Overview
A project creatively directed by the rockstar legend Ozzy Osbourne has exploded the past week. The discord — having only been open for about a week — already has over 70,000 people and the hype does not seem to be dying down anytime soon.
CryptoBatz is inspired by nostalgic pixel-art with 2 unique and innovative functions that hasn’t been done before yet in the space. These will be further explored below
Artwork
One of the many trends in NFTs currently involve pixel art, and CryptoBatz closely follows suit.
The artwork was also generated following the golden ratio (aka the divine proportion) resulting in a composition that is subtly pleasing to the eyes.
Mint information
Mint price: 0.088 ETH
Mint date: 20th Jan (US time).
75% of the 9,666 Batz will be whitelisted, which can be earned primarily through activity on Discord and Twitter. The whitelist mechanic involves 3 different tiers, based on your level of engagement and support for the project:
- Bronze: 1 mint
- Silver: 2 mints
- Gold: 3 mints
The vision
A large part of Ozzy’s creative vision was to bring originality into the NFT space — this can only be achieved by holding a genesis Bat. Its functionalities involve the introduction of ‘Mutant Batz’ and ‘Ancient Batz’ which are currently still being developed and will be released later down the line.
Mutant Batz
Similar to how the mutating function works for Bored Apes, Mutant Batz are created by the genesis bats biting a ‘victim project’ that have partnered with CryptoBatz. The traits of the victim project and the Batz will both carry over.
So far there are 4 of these victim projects:
- Bored Ape Yacht Club
- Cryptoadz
- SupDucks
- Alien Frens
Ancient Batz
Ancient Batz can only be claimed through a treasure hunt in real life, where the first 100 people that scan the QR code can redeem an Ancient Bat. A map of where these checkpoints will be is down below.
Team
Ozzy Osbourne, the creative pioneer of the project, has partnered with Sutter Systems a relatively new NFT studio. With consistent updates through Twitter Spaces as well as through Discord, they are very professional and take the project very seriously.
Every member of Sutter Systems also owns NFTs and are heavily engrained into the culture — the biggest names being BAYC, Cryptoadz and Doodles. Its one thing to simply create a project in the Web3 space, its another thing to be completely part of it while building.

- Be in one or two channels that you are genuinely interested in and ask questions/create discussions. A couple days of genuinely answering questions and engaging in conversations will earn you the bronze tier
